I was shocked to see Mark covered in mood and looking very unhappy. ‘Mark! Mark!’ – I shouted and ran to my brother quickly. He looked at me with his sad and scary eyes. His eyes… they told me more than words. I was staring at him and couldn’t say a word. ‘Ann… you should go with me now, but don’t be afraid, everything is going to be all right’ – he told me. What… what on earth was happening? I didn’t know what to say, didn’t know what to do. Mark seemed to be so calm, but I knew that something was wrong. He took my hand and told me to follow him… and so I did. We were walking, he didn’t say a word and neither did I. I was just thinking and thinking.

‘But… Mark’ – I asked- ‘what had happened to you? Where is this all mud from? What have you been doing?’. Then I found more happiness in his eyes. He looked at me calmly and told me that he tried to find me as fast as he could, and so he was in such a hurry that he slipped on the path near the hospital… A hospital! Right… We were on the way to the hospital… no! No! No! What was going on? Who were we going to? Mummy…?! Did something wrong happen to her? My eyes blurred with tears. Mark smiled… W went inside the hospital. I heard a familiar voice from the stairs. It was my Dad. I looked up and… he disappeared.

‘Listen, my little sister’ – Mark said- ‘we had some problems with Mum, she was expecting a baby in 3 weeks time…’ I started to cry. ‘But don’t worry, everything is OK with her’. But… what about the baby? Was it also all right? I saw my Dad going towards me with two parcels in his hands. ‘Ann… you wanted to have a sister or a brother’ –Dad said- ‘But I have to disappoint you… you got both’. Those little parcels were my sister and brother! It was the most amazing day in my life… and I’ll never forget it.
