Present a written argument or case to an educated reader with no specialist knowledge of the following topic.
Subjects such as Art, Sport and Music are being dropped from the school curriculum for subjects such as Information Technology. Many people feel that children suffer as a result of these changes.
To what extent would you support or reject the idea of removing these subjects from the school curriculum?

As the times change, subjects such as Art, Sport and Music are being dropped from the school curriculum because of the need to find time for Information Technology which is a curricular subject already in elementary schools. In my opinion children are becoming overloaded with computer-related matters and miss crucial possibilities.
First of all, losing the Art or Music classes, young people are deprived of main occasion to become creative and think for themselves. These subjects have played a vital role in people's lives since the very beginning. Have anyone ever thought how would the parties and festivities be perceived if there was no music?
Secondly, without values carried by drawing, painting or sculpting, which are learnt during the Art classes, children will be manually disabled. The ability of typing on the keyboard and using the computer mouse is not enough to function well in life. As the school merely forms future adults, we cannot be forgetful of their needs.
What is more, despite the fact that number of children being overweight or obese is terribly high, the importance of Physical Education is still neglected. Spending a 45-minute lesson of Information Technology sitting in place will not help the youngsters keep the healthy lifestyle.
It can only bring more trouble to health such as impaired vision or spine problems.
On the other hand, in the times when our lives are becoming faster and faster, it is important for everyone to know the technologies useful in different life situations. For example, students should be taught how to properly write a job application or use an online banking system at school.
Taking everything into consideration, despite the fact that subjects such as Information Technology are inevitable, they definitely should not be put into the curriculum instead of Art, Sports or Music. Children are already overly devoted to computers that making them spend another hours in front of the screen may only be harmful.
