Meeting to raise funds for disadvantaged children

The purpose of this report is to outline the meeting held on Friday 5 th August to raise funds for the disadvantaged children from our town, Brighton. On the whole , the event appeared to be a real success . It seems that everyone was engaged in it and had a lot of fun during the whole day.
This year it was decided to held the meeting in the main area of St Peter?s Park , which was easily accessible both by private and public transport and had good public toilet facilities.
During the day two professional rock groups appeared on the stage , free of charge. They played music for people of all ages and gathered a lot of positive opinions from the public. As the performance was given , collections were carried out in different places of St Peter?s Park . The money was collected by 50 volunteers , mostly students from the university ? they were great. The total raised exceeded $ 3000 , more than last year.
Moreover, great variety of additional activities were provided e.g. sponsored runs , street parties and lots of competitions. Refreshments were provided by local restaurants , who made their own arrangements regarding stalls and vendors.
To sum up, the whole event seemed to be a real success. In my opinion , it was of a higher standard than last years as more money has been collected and much more people attended it. In my view , in future we should organize more such meetings . It is the best source of raising money as well as public awareness of the problem of disability.
