Escape to the country ? should you?

Many citizens of big cities find the prospect of living in the country very tempting. But what attracts us to the life outside the city and is it really worth the effort of changing the surroundings? In my opinion moving to a village will not ease one's life at all.

In spite of the advantages that living in rural area has, like lots of green space and very clean air, peace, considerable tidiness etc. there are many important drawbacks. The first of them is the small number of shop and services, that's why it's difficult to obtain some products or get help from specialists. Moreover there are no facilities such as gym or swimming pool so the activities which you can perform in your now gained free time are quite limited. The above points result in another very important disadvantage ? the lack of interesting jobs, if not jobs at all. Why leaving to the country if you have to drive heavy kilometers back in the city to your work? And what about your children? Their education will be poorer and they will have no entertainment in their pastime. If one doesn't like dancing to disco-polo at a party held by local fire-station, he will certainly suffer from the lack of music clubs, discos, cinemas or theaters. And the old, gossiping people depriving everyone of privacy? I'm sure you will sooner hear what your son misbehaved from a nosy neighbour than from your son himself. Not only it is far to a hospital but also if you still do want to send your children to a school with high standards, each day trip to the city will do you no good because there's no other option but to go by car as there's no public transport.

To sum up I find country a miserable place to live in. Tempting as it may seem, given due consideration it appears to have far more drawbacks than advantages. If you want to lead a peaceful life a far better choice would be to move to the outskirts.
