It happened 2 years ago when I was 15 years old. I went with my mom and dad to my grandparents for Christmas. It was very cold winter. It was snowing all the time, it was freezing and the temperature was very low. We came directly for Christmas Eve. My aunts, uncles, grandparents and cousins were waiting for us. It was fantastic. All my family were wearing smart clothes, the gifts were waiting under the Christmas tree and my grandmother was baking delicious gingerbread cakes with icing.
We washed our hands and sat at the table, before we shared wafer and ate supper. After this my 8 years old cousin wanted to open gifts. I knew that my uncle had gone out but I wasn’t thinking about this. One moment somebody knocked at the door. My grandfather opened and said: “O my God! It was Santa Claus!”. I thought that my grandmother paid her young neighbour and that he wore these funny clothes. Santa Claus was talking with my shy cousin and me, gave her more presents and after a short “Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas” he went out. Later we opened the gifts and my uncle showed up again.
After a bath whole family went to bed. I was lying in bed under hot quilt and thinking: “Come on Kate! Santa Claus doesn’t exist!”. I love when frost was making beautiful frozen pictures on windowpanes. My mother came to me and started talking. Suddenly I asked her: “Today’s Santa Claus, that was uncle?”. She started smiling to me but she said nothing. It was the strangest thing that ever happened to me when I didn’t recognize my uncle “Santa Claus” when I was talking with him and looking into his eyes. It was surprise for my young cousin but I believed in Santa again.
