The strangest thing I ever ate was I think a dry meat of kangaroo.
The funny thing is I have never been to Australia. And the place I had it was situated in other continent – exactly in South Africa – Tunisia.
It was about 4 years ago when I went with my mum and her boyfriend for holidays in Djerba – the island of Tunisia.
We were staying in a very exclusive hotel called ‘Dar Kayam’. I just loved the place from the first look. It was like a real palace with few different restaurant, bars and fitness clubs inside. Outside was just incredible. The garden full of orange, oil trees and palms of course. My favourite there was large pool with the bar in the middle.

So one of the Saturdays evenings they served us a special supper – like a Swedish buffet. So we could try everything. It was amazing – the different smell and colours of the dishes. I just didn’t know from what I should start.
I remember I had so many different peaces on my plate – I didn’t know what I am eating, so I managed to ask the waiter what is on my plate. He tried to explain in his ‘special’ English language – but I understood only something about snake and meat of kangaroo. Snake I ate before in Chinese restaurant in Poland, but kangaroo…

That was really new experience and… I really enjoyed it. The meet was dry – I had to chew it. Dark brown colour strips of meet. Maybe not best looking but tasted just delicious. My mum and John shared my opinion.
After all these awesome food waiters brought the sweets – a lot of different cakes and fruits. But any of us couldn’t eat more. We had too much I am sure. And it is a pity I didn’t try any of those desserts.
I was feeling guilty the next day when I stood on a scale. I simply put the weight on.
But this few grams were worth to put on just to try all this fantastic food.
