People lie for a variety of reasons.

Being entirely truthful is commonly accepted as a virtue. Nevertheless, today, people find it difficult to be untainted and honest. Due to facing many everyday problems, they treat a lie as a solution for some uncomfortable situations. There appears a leading question: what are the reasons that they decide to lie?

Firstly, in some cases, consciousness of the truth may lead to unfortunate results. Because of the fear of taking away a hope, a doctor can refuse to tell his patient about the terminal disease. Knowing the truth, the rest of the patient’s life, would probably be changed in a nightmare.
Secondly, there are people who can not imagine living without lies. Some of them say unreal things, in order to improve their own image. The worst thing is that afterwords they begin to believe in their own imaginary world. Not only do they tell lies about their private life, but also about other people.

Thirdly, untruth is indisputably connected with crime. There is a group of people who don’t obey the law. Under no circumstances should we accept their attitude, as it bases on naivety of other people. What is more, such criminals have to be punished.
To sum up, whatever the reason is, people should always consider the consequences of their deeds. The result of telling white lies is harmless, but it is sometimes difficult to notice the boundary of accepted behaviour. The more people lie, the more difficult it is for them to admit to the truth.
