Wrong first impression of somebody - opis

When I was in my last year in middle school I met Wiktoria. She joined our class after having moved to town. She didn't look like someone you'd want to be friends with and other girls were laughing at her behind her back.
That's because she looked really pretentious and snobbish. She dressed like a model and seemed to care only about her heels suiting her branded purse. She always wore heavy make-up, walked tall and didn't talk much, usually answering in short quips. She almost never smiled or showed any emotions. We noticed she doesn't make any new friends at school, but we just assumed that's because she's probably mean.
But turns out we were wrong. In the school newspaper there was a series od articles about everyday heroes. We found a whole article about how she helped some elderly couple living next to her, how she would hurry up from school to do their shopping and help them with everyday tasks, like doing the dishes, making laundry and cleaning windows all the while wearing old slacks and worn-out jumper (visible on pictures). Everyday she would cook the dinner for tomorrow for her single father and the pair next door. She also read at the local orphanage on weekends.
We started talking to her more and discovered that she was just really shy and defensive because she was insecure. Slowly she started opening up and showing more emotions. She turned out to be very nice and intelligent and soon everybody grew to like her.
