I work in the biggest hospital in Paris as a general practitioner. My job is not only surgeries or small non-invasion operations, but also filling a charges, which is excruciatingly boring. Normally, when I wake up in the morning I am exhausted because of the day after when I was keeping a night duty. I couldn’t asleep in a call room, because my interns had an emergency situation with failed appendicitis surgery. I left them a post tips with some advices how to handle with stress in operation room, but it was completely useless. I had to get up and fix what they destroyed. Then, I realized that I have to cure a bone fracture, because one of my latest patients is an alpinist and every month he has something to fix. But it wasn’t the end of my anguish. I was trying to give him some anesthesia, so I get a disposable needle and inject him double dose of medicine, appropriate to his weight. Suddenly, he lost his conscious and felt on floor. I called a backup and I took him to the isolation room, when I noticed that it was reaction for one of an ingredients of anesthesia. My patient suffered from contagious disease, from the beginning I was wondering if it is just a chickenpox, but later, when I did blood test, it shows some more dangerous, maybe even life threatening germs. I called an immunology specialist, who sent this ill man to the other floor to do some more tests. I felt relieved and free, so I decided to dream in bed. My peaceful time was broken one again, when one of my inters came to me to ask for something irrelevant and I saw that his face was yellow. It was obvious that he is infected and has jaundice, so I run some tests and ordered him to lie in bed and rest. Unfortunately, he doesn’t want to listen to me and he was trying to take care of patients, even despite awareness of being dangerous for other people. In these circumstances I had to pick one of my interns to have an eye on him. So, that is my casual day at work, full of challenges and problems, but I love my job anyway, because wherever I go, I had to be ready for new and unexpected.
