A scent of e-books

It is not so good to read books using a computer. Our bones can hurt and it can damage our eye sight. That is why this idea does not have many supporters. But everything indicates that it is going to change soon. Readers will have an acces to literature from all the world! It seems to be cheaper than in a bookshop. There are some devices too, which offer this service…
The first device is Sony Reader. It costs 349 USD (about 1120 PLN). This is a digital display (17x12cm), which guarantees a high quality of reading text. You can take it wherever you want without worries about battery. It is energy- saving. What is more, the 64MB memory is built-in. You can save over 50 books in it!
The second device is called Iliad, made by Philips. It offers a cordless access to the Internet and a wider display than Sony Reader’s. The price is “wider” too… This modernized device costs 650 euro (2540 PLN). Both devices offer a possibility to underline and search words.
All we can read here may sound for us a little bit like science-fiction. But you will read here more odd things… In the future we will find in shops devices able to roll up to put them into a pocket. The first prototypes are made by Philips and LG. Beyond that, there will be possibility to listen to the books! We owe it to an electronic announcer.
All in all, contents can not be replaced with technology. That is why the most significant concerns invited to cooperation some publishing houses. Thanks to them we will have a chance to buy cheeper e-books via the Internet, copy into the device and read it, for example sitting in a bus or waiting for an exam.
Conservatives will also find something for them. Company called On Demand Books prepared something special… Using this device it will be possible to download the book from the Internet, print, staple and bind it! And everything will be as fast as waiting for a cup of tea from an automaton.
In my opinion it is good, that the companies take care of our time. Thanks to them we do not have to waste it by standing in long queues. Time is money. We can “see” this proverb looking at the prices of those helpful devices… Are they so stately to replace the normal books with them? I think that nothing can be more exciting than opening the completely new book and smelling a scent of ink and a fresh paper.
