If You are asking about controversial performance for me there is one answer. “The Lonesome West” in Martin’s McDonagh direction. It is a black comedy about two squabbling, middle aged brothers, Coleman and Valene Connor. An action carry on in little Irish village called Connemara.
As the play opens the brothers have just buried their father and are being consoled by local priest Fr. Welsh. Well, perhaps consoled is not the word, given the brothers’ relative lack of interest in their father’s demise except in so far as it affects the power balance in the run-down house in which they live. It seems that Valene has inherited the entire estate (such as it is), and has taken to branding everything in the place with his initial and fiercely defends his right to call it all his own. Coleman seems relatively laid back about it, but tensions flare quickly and frequently over matters as trivial as packets of potato chips and religious statuettes. Alcoholic Fr. Welsh despairs at the brothers’ infantile behavior and penchant for increasingly extreme violence, and hopes that he can redeem himself by helping them to rediscover their love for one another. There’s little enough chance of that in this dark corner of an Ireland as much created in reaction to previous representations as informed by any currents and eddies in the culture itself.
In polish version in Coleman’s and Valene’s roles impersonate Tomasz Kot and Michal Zebrowski. They perfectly shows the characters extremely opposite and contradictory that You can not believe they are brothers. They play really honestly and they can convince public that they pass through bad time.
This is a time when You should ask why it is controversial? Brothers in constant quarrel trans nearly non-stop swear and blaspheme.
This is the reason why on the tickets is written: SHOW ONLY FOR ADULT SPECTATORS but in my opinion it is worth watching.
