'Oliver Twist' is the film based on the novel written by Charles Dickens under the same title. The film was directed by Roman Polański - an Oscar winner - and made in 2005. The main characters are: Oliver played by Barney Clark, Sowerberry played by Michael Meat and Nancy - Leanne Rowe.

The plot focuses on an orphan boy and takes place in 19th - century England. The film tells about his journey from a harsh workhouse, where he is punished for asking for more food, into the wider, more dangerous world. Oliver meets Fagin and 'Artful Doger', two of the criminals and has a lot of adventures with then through the lowlife in Victorian London. But not everything is easy and safe for this little boy.

The cast is excellent, and young Barney Clark surely has a bright acting career ahead of him. The film is full of detailed scenes as it successfully portrays lowlife in Victorian London. Music created by Rachel Portman is worthy of note. It perfectly goes with the plot.

'Oliver Twist' is a film well worth seeing. Most everybody will love this touching story. But I must assert that I would not recommend it for children, because in the film there are a lot of brutal scenes. It is a highly interesting film which is surely going to be one of the year's biggest hits.
