AIDS is a very serious international problem. Do You agree or not?

We are mendt to live in a very difficult time. Out world is full of violence, war, conflicts between many countries. Every day, in news programs we hear about thousands of killed people. But when we start thinking about the reason why people are dying - we cone to the idea that not only war brings victims, but also a killer disease called AIDS. Definitely AIDS has become a serious international problem.

One reason why It has become such a huge problem is that the cure for AIDS has not been found yet. The researches, to find a medicine for HIV virus (which causes AIDS) are carried out since 1989 and still small progress has been made. Only thing that we know for this day is that. The virus takes control of the healthy cell’s genetic material and forces the cells to make a copy of the virus. The cell then dies and the multiplied virus moves on to invade and kill other healthy cells.

Besides, AIDS is very dangerous because that the HIV virus spreads very fast and people are not aware of the ways they can be infected. The AIDS virus can be passed on sexually or by sharing needles used to inject drugs. It also can be passed in blood products or from a pregnant woman with AIDS to her baby. According to WHO (World Health Organization) the level of AIDS patients increased from 12 mln in 1998 to above 20 mln in 2002.

Finally, AIDS Is, and will be a serious international problem unless people start realizing what kind of disease It is. Still, there is little known about AIDS in common thinking. People still think that this disease afflicts only sinners, gay and drug abusers. Governments or other organizations should start information campaign to change people attitude towards AIDS patients. Whatever we say, or think about It, AIDS is a serious international problem. And, since there isn’t any cure for it at present, be as helpful and understanding as possible to those suffering from this terrible disease. That is the least we can do.
