Everybody knows that a peer group is very important for young people, even more than family. Each young man wants to emulate peers.
Each teenager belongs to a group, where people have similar views, dress, age, way to spending free time and interest. Approval by the peers is very important for youth, nobody wants to be worse than the others of group. I am convinced that young man is able to sacrifice a lot to gain acceptance of peers. Frankly opinions of parents or teachers for youth are of secondary importance. Acceptance and recognition from peers is most important for they. The teenager in the group has a sense of security, feels less lonely and more confident.
As far as I'm concerned, most young people prefer to spend time with friends than with family, because teenagers feel more affiliation to the peer group than to the family group. In my opinion for young man is easier to get along with peers than with adults. This is because peers experiencing the same problems as him. Youth also believe that friends understand his problems more than parents.
Summarizing, young people without a peer group couldn’t function normally. Each young man would like to emphasize his similarity and membership of the group members. For teenagers, the family is not enough - they need support and understanding by their colleagues. With time, however, young people notice the need to create their own individuality and personal style. They will also seek to strengthen their ties with the family.
