Drug-addiction is a problem of the 20th century. Young people are particularly exposed to this threat. They try once or twice a cigarette with narcotic inside, then they change to injections, and day by day they become totally dependent on this deathly habit. The young look for some supernatural experiences, they hope to find a sense of life, pleasure and happiness in taking drugs, and they dont even notice how quickly they fall into addiction.
What kind of symptoms are characteristic of a drug-addict?
-He sleeps long, eats a lot of sweets, and trembles
-His moods change very often from the state of euphoria to aggression, he cannot concentrate, learn or make any reasonable decision
-He just stops thinking if he is not given stimulus in the form of drugs
-The ties between him and his family loosen
-He doesnt need any friends.
We have a lot of kinds of addictive drugs, e.g. hashish, caffeine, amphetamine. I decided to describe the LSD. Lysergic acid diethylamide is commonly known as acid. It belongs to a family of drugs known as hallucinogens.
LSD is very powerful. Pure LSD the size of an aspirin would be enough for 3 000 doses. Odorless and tasteless, the fine white powder is sold in capsules or as tablets. It can also be diluted in liquid and then absorbed into blotter paper, sugar cubes, gum, candy, cookies, or even postage stamps that can be eaten or licked. The effects of LSD you can usually feel in 30 or 45 minutes. They can last from 2 to 12 hours.
LSD affects your emotions. You may feel euphoric, but this can quickly change to sadness or fear, and back again. You can even feel more than one emotion at the same time.
LSD also changes the way you see, smell, hear, taste, and touch. It can make you hallucinate and then you think that you see, hear or smell things that are not actually there.
For people with psychological problems, LSD use can result in prolonged psychotic states. Deaths from an LSD overdose have never been reported. However, LSD has been implicated in suicides, accidental deaths, murders, and self-inflicted wounds. When used by expectants mothers, LSD may cause birth defects or miscarriages.
