"Veronica decides to die"- a review

A novel „Veronica decides to die” is written by Paulo Coelho. I read it during summer, when I was at a lower-secondary school. Recently a film based on the book started to be shown in cinemas.
The main character is Veronica- a young girl who tries to commit a suicide. She wakes up in an elitist hospital in Ljubljana. Doctors have a brilliant idea. They say her that she has a heart illness and that she will die. Since this day Veronica’s life has changed. She enjoys every single day and she counts them out…
The novel learns readers how to appreciate and respect life. The life is shown as a priceless gift. Moreover it permits to look on life from prospect of a person who will have to die. It’s easy to empathise with Veronica. The next advantage is a brilliant method of showing two points of view on life: person’s who wants to commit a suicide and who doesn’t want to die.
The book could be longer. It should present more dramatic Veronica’s days. What’s more, the plot is set only in the hospital. There’s lack of contrast with a normal society.
The novel is worth reading. It’s very absorbing. Every person should read it to dispel doubts about sense of the life. The idea of writing is really fabulous. The plot is absolutely amazing. Everyone is supposed to possess it in a bookcase. The book is really extraordinary.
