How to start with my first aquarium

1. What we need?
Aquarium – in the beginning the best choice will be water-glass with at least 50 litres. In smaller aquariums biologic stability is very weak and it’s very easy to collapse. Moreover choice in flora and fauna in small water tank is quite poor.
Filter – it is probably the most important device in the aquarium. It’s responsible for circulation, cleaning and oxidizing water. We should remember to choose filter suitable to capacity of the water-glass. It is not wrong using filter designed to bigger aquarium, but buying filter which is not efficient enough probably the filtration will be too weak and water conditions in our aquarium won’t be good enough. Filter has to work 24h per day.
Heater – most of the tropical fishes, which we keep in aquarium needs quite high and stable temperature. That’s why heater is very necessary device, which will be responsible for stable temperature. We choose power of the heater thus on 1 litre of water we have about 1W of devices power.
Lighting – lighted aquarium looks more effective. Besides light is necessary to plants grow helthy.
Ground – it takes many fuctions in aquarium. Most of all we plant plants in it. Moreover it becomes a habitat of useful bacterias. It also can be decoration of water-glass. On the ground we can simply use sand or gravel.
Decorations –they can be roots or rocks. We should remember to concoct roots before puting them into aquarium, and choose those rocks not influence water parameters.
Accesories – in later service of aquarium useful would be some things like: glass and ground cleaner, bucket, termometre to control heater work, fishing net to catch fishes, water tests.

2. Aquarium start
We start with spilling and equating gravel. Thickness of gravel should increase direct to rear glass.
Next we place decorations After that we partly fill aquarium with water and start to plant plants. before planting We cut roots to about 2-3cm. After planting plants we fill aquarium and install all devices and turn on them. In this way aquarium should ripen at least two weeks. But anyway we can’t hurry with placing fishes in aquarium to be sure that they don’t get harm.

3. Chemistry of water
pH raection, water hardness and ammonia, nitrites and nitrogens are water parameters having a big influence on living organisms condition in aquarium. We should adjust those parameters to our charges needs as well as we can. To have water under control its good to get some tests, which can show conditions in aquarium.

4. Choosing plants and fish
We should to get know what are fish species needs. Will they be too big in our aquarium and will conditions be suitable for them. We shoud be careful and don’t get too many fish. Plants we also choose that size of them be suitable to water-glass. Besides different species has different needs and first we has to check if concrete plant has chances to grow in our aquarium.

5. Working of aquarium
Very important thing is changing water eventually with ground cleaning (odmulanie, czyszczenie dna). Never change all of the water, because we destroy biologic stability which aquarium has created. Generally the best way is to weekly change 25% of water. Also we should clean the filter from time to time. In case we clean glass in aquarium. When everything is done the fact remains is to enjoy the beauty of our water glass.
