Everybody heard some stories about traditions and culture of ancient Japan. What most people don't realize is that most of those traditions are still kept and Japanese people are practicing them everyday. The beautiful Japan may seem to vanished under the new technologies and huge skyscrapers but it remains mystical and subtle in this book. Mostly what we heard are some stories about the green tea, geishas and samurais. If you heard some of them, then I can assure you that you'll be very surprised.

They're nothing comparing to how it is looking in real life. The book will make you realize that. Geishaes may seem made from porcelain, I even heard some stereotypes that they are nothing else than prostitutes but it is far away from the truth.

Let’s introduce you to “Memories of the Geisha”. Even if you got scared while looking on the amount of pages I am sure that by reading the first few sentences you'll not stop until the book is finished. And even then you'll feel unsatisfied and feel eager like never before to know more about the book and continuation of the story. I can say by my experience, that when I started reading it with few first sentences I traveled from my sofa to charming garden filled with smell of Japanese Maple come to blossom. And still I remained there sometimes forgetting to breathe until I read the last sentence of the book.

I would recommend that book to everybody- both - females as well as males. What is really good about it, is that the story is written in simple language. It feels like the person who is narrating the tale is sitting just beside us.

The story is a lot like Cinderella, but Cinderella who got lost in times of II War World in Japan. The novel is mostly a romance story, sometimes naive but definitely surprising. No wonder why it remained for two years on the top of the bookstores shelves and on The New York Times bestseller list. It is like confession of your best friend that is most celebrated geisha in Japan. It is impossible to don't like her and it seems that you knew her forever. And yet everybody will find a little bit of themselves in the book.

The story is so well written and so much authenticate, that I almost believed it is a auto-biography written by a woman, not by a male.
The story begins in a small fishing village Yoroido, when a cute looking girl is begging to discover the cruel world. She is seeing things that she understands many years later. Nine-year old Chiyo is a daughter of a fisherman; she is a girl that got the most beautiful blue eyes which makes her so significant to everybody who pass by her.

The tale is told by voice of wisdom and mysterious beauty- known as Sayuri. The author did very good work, because since first page we are sitting with her on the bench while seeping green tea. She is giving us a hand to a question which lead us true her life story worth remembering and yet remanding the times that everybody would wished to forget. This question introduces us to the sad world of a woman that came across too much and still too less in her life.

Before reading that book you'll have to ask yourself a very important question. Did you ever dreamed about discovering the ravishing culture of Japan? Did you ever felt intrigued by it? If the answer is “yes” then it is a perfect novel for you.
