At the 78th Academy Awards in 2006, ?Crash? was nominated for six Academy awards. It battled it out with strong contenders like ?Brokeback Mountain? and ?Memories of a Geisha?, and it won awards for Best Motion Picture, Best Writing-Original Screenplay, and Best Achievement in Film Editing. It is not surprising , because the cast is excellent ( for example Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Esposito and Don Cheadle) and it was directed by Paul Haggis ? nominated year before for Academy award.

The story concerns several stories during two days in Los Angeles. It involves a collection of characters, for instance, a police detective with a drugged out mother and a thieving younger brother, two car thieves, the white district attorney and his wife, a racist white veteran cop (caring for a sick father), a successful Hollywood director, a Persian-immigrant father who buys a gun to protect his shop, and more.

What I liked about the film was brilliant screenplay and clever dialogues. The plot is believable, one cannot resist the impression that these are real stories. The acting is also impressive. Music keeps viewers in suspense.

Of course the movie is not flawless. The film is pessimistic, it shows the dark side of a big city and quite a lot of violence. It is not for children.

?Crash? is a very good film and it is worth seeing. Viewers have an opportunity to find out more about real life in Los Angeles and, generally, in every big city. I can thoroughly recommend this film.
