My job.

Hi Mrs. Stephanie! I don?t have any special plans this summer except to work at my job, so I will tell you a little about my work. My name is Barbara but most of my friends call me Barb. It?s my nickname. When I arrived to the United States I was 27.My English was very poor and limited, I couldn?t even say ?Hi, how are you?. I was really afraid about who could hire me. My friend helped me fill up an application and I applied to one of a few companies in Burlington.
After a few weeks they hired me. I got a job. I was really excited. It was my first job in the U.S. I started work at seven and ended at four o?clock from Monday to Friday. I had thirty minutes for lunch and two fifteen minute breaks. This job was not very complicated but it was really hard for me. I was responsible for sorting and putting tickets on merchandise. I had to open boxes, take out units, put them on the working table and separate them by colors, sizes and styles. Then I put appropriate tickets on them and I put them into totes. I was also responsible for filling out special flags for each tote and at the end of shift I had to do a report for my boss about the whole day of work. I have been working in this department for almost two years. I met lots of friends there and I also started to learn English there too. After two years, I applied for a clerical job in the same company. When I got this job, I was very happy but also very scared. I had to learn lots of new things. My schedule time didn?t change a lot. I have one hour of lunch and two fifteen minuet breaks. I start at eight and finish at five o?clock. Now I am responsible for entering and printing purchases orders. I have to put lots of information into the systems, such as style names, colors, descriptions, cost, etc. When I am done entering this information, I have to print a summary out and give it to other co-workers to proof it. If there are no any errors all that I need to do is give it to my boss for approval. Sometimes I have to do some special projects, something completely different than ordinary assignments. In this job I have to be able to do multiple tasks.
This job also offers computer classes. This is a great opportunity to improve my computer knowledge so I can take my skills to a higher level and learn some advanced techniques and tools I could apply to a job. I really like this job but I need to improve my English because I have a problem communicating with other people.
I think people in the whole world have to go to work, because this is the one of the most important things in our live. Work is part of my life and it helps my family and me to live a normal existence.
