Should we join EU?
There isn’t one right answer. In my opinion Poland should join EU, for many different reasons, but I’m not really sure if we are ready to make that step forward. There are many pros and cons; we should wait till there will be more advantages than disadvantages of joining EU.
If we join European Union we will be getting help from other countries – special funding for economic development, money for agriculture, for the weakest branches of industry. This is very important for our country, which after 1989 changes still is on lower level than all west countries. Polish people will be able to travel without any visas, to go to other European countries we won’t have any problems with passing borders, as there won’t be any. All the situations in which are feeling somebody’s hostility to our nation will become past, we won’t be a far-away poorish country, but a part of the whole of strong Europe. The attitude to Poland will change.

But on the other hand joining EU might mean losing a bit of our sovereignty. We will become the poorest of all EU countries, which might have negative results. Our agriculture is very weak, so polish farmers feel a bit anxious about their future chances in rivalry with much stronger EU ones. Another problem is the fact, that Polish land is very cheap, and if people from other countries will be able to buy it with no limits, we will be losing the land, which for Polish people have been fighting for years.

It is absolutely necessary that we join EU, as we live just in the middle of Europe and we are the part of it’s culture, we need to cooperate. It is better to be strong together, than weak alone.
