Many average people dream of fame and popularity, and are often jealous of celebrities whose pictures appear on the covers of glossy magazines. They don't realise, however, that famous people who are always in the public eye don't have easy lives. Being famous means giving up privacy and living under much pressure.
Whenever they appear, celebrities are harassed by fans and hounded by the press. Nosy paparazzi hoping to get a sensational picture never leave them alone and follow them day and night in restaurants, in the street and even at their homes. No matter how powerful, wealthy or glamorous they are, celebrities are no longer private individuals and can't do many things that normal people do, like eat out, do shopping or go to a football match without causing a sensation.
At the same time, their most intimate secrets become public property, and lots of people gossip about their weddings, divorces, love affairs, drink problems and many other things including even plastic surgery.
What is more, famous people live under constant pressure. Since their physical appearence and manners are always under observation, they have to be careful about what they say, how they dress and what they do. If they want to avoid criticism, they must follow by strict diet, look good at all times and never lose control under any cirumstances.
In addition, they attract much more attention than ordinary people and therefore must cope with the stress of being in constant danger. They need to be protected from their overenthusiastic fans, maniacs who become obsessed with them, enemies who threaten to harm them, and even ruthless photographers and journalists who are alway hungry for sensation.
To sum up, it seems that sometimes the price of stardom is too high. In my way of thinking it's better to lead ordinary and calm life rather than a stressful public one.
