Environment protection

One of the greatest problems of the contemporary world is the pollution of the environment. Gases, which are caused by cars and factories contaminate the atmophere. The result is the depletion in the ozone layer, acid rain and global warming. We still hear about these depressing issues. Every day we turn on our television and pick up a newspaper. What can we see? Another terrible items about pollution. How can we improve our Earth? A lot of people may say that we cannot do anything. That is not true. We can make a difference, we have to save our planet! What is more, it is our duty. We can make our planet cleaner and more beautiful. It can be a better place to live, but a lot of people do not care about contamination and destroying the ecosysytem. That is a pity... I am fed up with rubbish. How about you? Are you keen on nature? What should we do?
People expect government to provide all the solutions. Not only politicans should do something. We can have our own share in saving the Earth. The most important way of the protection of the environment is to take responsability for our own lifestyles. We use a huge variety of products, which can make our lives easier, but the result of this is destroying the ecosystem. The easiest way would be to buy only ecologically safe products, putting rubbish into the special containers. We have to start conserving the energy and water by taking a short shower instead of having a long bath, turning off the light when we are not spending time in the room or just using less heating and air conditioning.
It is high time to think more about protection of the environment. We should be more sensitive and our ecological awareness should be higher. Both parents, and teachers should talk to children about environmential issues. They should make children more sensitive and responsible. They have to show them that leaving robbish behind is wrong and cruel for our world. They may teach young people how to be environmentally friendly. Every person should know the causes and consequences of ecological destruction.
It would be great if more and more nantional parks were created. These are areas under special care. They are protected from the bad influence of interference of man. Flora and fauna can be safe there. Ecological balance of a natural habitat is preserved there. There are also perfect places for nature lovers an those who want to explore the nature. It can be a great hiding-place, a kind of escape from the contemporary, destroyed world.
The most important thing is to stop the destruction of the rainforests. People have to understand that we should stop cutting down trees. In one minute fifty acres of rainforests are destroyed. Huge areas, which we call the green lungs of the Earth are in South America. It is about half of world's rainforests, which remained. Deforestration may bring floods and the extinction of many species of animals. Forests are the home to milions of kinds of animals, birds and flowers. Every moment a lot of them lose their homes, their natural habitats. Forests are important in other ways, too. They help to reduce air pollution, they give us oxygen. Without them our planet could not survive. We cannot live without trees. It does not depend on ordinary citizens, but every political party should include in their programme some postulates, which can help.
It would be a great idea to use alternative forms of energy, for instance solar power. Our present forms are too damaging to the atmosphere. If this were done, natural resources would not come to an end. By doing this, air pollution caused by harmful gases can be reduced.
Good idea is to improve public transport. There are more and more cars. Of course, we use them to get to work quickly but exhaust fumes cause smog and make the atmosphere highly polluted. As a result, people can develop breathing difficulties. Improving public transport and reducing traffic solve problems of air pollution in large cities. Use buses and trains instead of cars would help. We could ride bikes more. It wolud be great for environment and for our health. Moreover, smoke of factories couses air pollution, too. They produce carbon dioxide. If factories put filters on chimneys, it would help to solve this problem.
Another useful suggestion would be recycle. Newspapers and magazines can be recycled to make writing paper. Recycling rubbish is very important. Therefore we could make new, useful products. It is interesting that more than a half of our domestic waste could be recycled or composted. We should tell other people what to do, help them to get started and involve our children- try to educate them early, the result is that they will do the same in the future.
We are killing our planet. Pollution is a problem for all of us. They're many ways we can help: use less fuel, use public transport instead of cars, recycle rubbish and sort our domestic waste, plant trees, conserve the energy and water, try to create new national parks. Saying that we can do very little is a laziness. People should not leave their rubbish behind. The Earth is suffering because of our irresponsability and immaturity. We are killing our planet every moment. Take it to heart and start thinking globally. Let us make the Earth a better place to live.
