"The Ring", a horror, directed by Gore Verbinski is a modern remake of a very popular Japanese movie. The film is set in Seattle in 1998. I saw the movie a few years ago in the cinema and I think it is the most suprising horror. I have ever watched.
The film is a story about a mysterious videotape, which threatens the spectator with death in 7 days.
A reporter Rachel Keller doesn't believe in this incredible story until four teenagers die in strange circumstances exactly a week after they watch the cassette. Rachel comes across the mysterious, unmarked tape and watches it. Then a telehone rings and somebody tells that she has only 7 days to live. Now Rachel must ask her ex-husband Noah for help in order to rescue her and her son's Aidan life.
Above all "The Ring" has a wonderful atmosphere, which keeps viewers in suspense. The cast is really good. Naomi Watts as Rachel Keller gives an outstanding performace. Moreover Dawid Dorfmann as Aidan deserves attention too. A twelve-year-old boy stars perfectly a very complicated role, in which we can find both features of medium, a possesed child and a scared boy. However, the performace of Martin Henderson (Noah) is not so brilliant. The dialogues are natural and clever. Furthermore, the filming is imaginative with good action scenes. But you must remember that some of the scenes are frightening and and the film is definetly not for children. The movie has also a tragic and startling ending.
To sum up, i would like to recommend "The Ring", since it is undoubtedly one of the best horrors which I watched with terror and interest.
