Gdynia

Originally Gdynia was a small Cashubian fishing village.It quickly changed into a big port and town, when the Polish authorities decided to build a new port on the narrow strip of the Polish coastline. Gdynia became a town in 1926. And then changed into the most modern harbour on the Baltic. Totally destroyed during the World War II, our town was rebuilt and later modernized especially the port. The massive port buildings has transformed Gdynia into a very busy port and city with 250 000 residents. The main street called Świętojańska street belongs to the most expensive and exclusive places in Tri- City. You can find there the so-called white fleet ships which can take you on a sightseeing tour around the port or to Sopot, Gdansk or even Hel peninsula. Other attractions include the Oceanographic Museum and Sea Aquarium where there are various kinds of colourful fish and other sea animals. One of main tourists’ attractions is 2 km long boulevard leading along the coast to Redłowska Polanka a sport recreation centre with a stadium and tennis courts. All of this you can see from the top of mount Kamienna Góra, because its terrace provides a bird-eye-view of the bay, port and city centre.
