The locked door

Elijah was well known at school for his curiosity and inquisitiveness. He always wanted to know everything . He was ubiquitous, there was no such a place Elijah was not seen in. There was no mysterious secret he did not figure out, there was no quest for him he did not manage to undertake. Not only was he sneaky but also very nosy. Not once those unusual abilities were source of his trouble. However, he did not want to change anything. Curiosity and trouble was his element and a part of his life.

School Elijah attended to was very old and huge but only small part of it was used. It had hundreds of class-rooms ,numerous halls and great number of stairs which made you feel like you were in great maze. But only the bravest or the most stupid students used to meander there. Everybody knew those strange stories about lost students who never found way back from distant halls. But our hero was not that kind of boy who might have lost anywhere. He always know how to find a way out ,not only from these halls. Some students from higher classes claimed that somewhere in the basement’s maze there were mysterious door, “locked door”. The legend said that there was the “one” that could open it and discover its secret. Elijah knew that he was the “one” to do it. He simply felt it.

One day after the last lesson Elijah as usual decided to continue his discovery. He quietly stepped downstairs to basement and started his search. He strolled along the narrow corridor. The smell of adventure mixed with stale air wafted around him. Suddenly he realize that he had never been there. The place he stood was totally unknown for him. It was almost dark but he was able to see portraits of strange, elderly people he never knew and old fashioned candlestick. The thing which brightened the whole room was what Elijah was dreaming about. The door. “That” door. He was amazed by its glare. He knew exactly what he must do. He was extremely excited by what was suppose to happen. Without any hesitation he grabbed the handle and pull it bravely. But what happened , amazed him unbelievably . The door did not open. It certainly was “the locked door”.
