My Sister’s Keeper

One of my favourite English books is ‘My Sister’s Keeper’. It is a novel written by Jodi Picoult – the best author of 16 novels, for example: “ Change of Heart” , “Handle with Care” , “ Harvesting the Heart” , “ House Rules” , “ Keeping faith” , “ Nineteen Minutes” , “ Perfect Match” , “Picture Perfect” , “ Plain Truth” etc and “ My Sister’s Keeper” , which I would like to describe in this presentation. Two years ago I watch this film and it very engaging me, and then I have decided to read this book, which is really brilliant and very interesting.
The story takes place in Providence, Rhode Island in 2004. The main characters are Kate, her parents and her siblings- Anna and Jessie. Kate struggles with a very hard sickness-leukemia. Leukemia is a type of cancer of the blood or bone marrow characterized by an abnormal increase of immature white blood cells called "blasts". Furthermore, leukemia is a broad term covering a spectrum of diseases. A doctor argues that she will pass away before long. What’s more, her parents decide on conceive the another child who will be a donor for the older sister. There is a love component to this story. Anna- the youngest daughter donates her own organs to ill Kate. However, when Anna is 13 years old, she rebels against her parents. She would like to make her own decisions regarding her medical treatment and the donation of her kidney. In this situation all family is disconsolate. What is more, they try to explain Anna that her sister is very ill and needs help and her organs, but Anna is inexorabled person….
It seems to me that this “ My Sister’s Keeper” Jodi Picoult is clearly written and well presented. Some of people think that the author has a tendency to introduce too many new characters and names, so it was occasionally rather confusing. Although the book has been taken apart by critics, I really enjoyed reading it. I was very captivated by this story.
I really recommend the book of Jodi Picoult - ‘My Sister’s Keeper’ to people who keen on reading books which are based on true facts and suffering. What is more, on the cover of my favourite book we can see an ill Kate, who is making a soap bubbles and her mother and sister, who are smiling. When I am watching or looking at this cover it seems to me that they are a lovely and happy family, but the book presents the true story of this family, a very sad and a little pathetic story.
