Computer revolution - opportunities and threats.

It began some years ago. The first computer was invented in 1948. At the beginning it was big but now one can use it as a small suitcase.

Undoubtedly computer is one of the biggest discoveries of 20th century. It revolutionized all the world and nowadays it is hard to imagine its absence. Computer is present in nearly every domain of our life. Everything is controlled by it. It is applied everywhere: in banks, in enterprises and by everyone of us. It is often said that computer simplifies life and speeds up a lot of operations. Moreover it makes communication easier and thanks to computer one can communicate with people from all over the world. The Internet has become a real global village which makes us dream and travel without going out from our places. Thanks to "chat" and ICQ (I seek you) one can talk to people living at other corner of the world. One can say that this great invention of 20th century makes that all the universe is within reach of us. One can get a lot of information without moving about or even talking to anyone. But on the other hand, computer does not only bring advantages. Computer can become for some people a drug. Because of it, one can become anonymous and see nothing apart from his or her computer. Particularly children can become hooked on computer games. A lot of people spend several hours in front of computer and because of it their eyes get worse. Furthermore computer decreases the sphere of creativity.

So, is computer a real achievement of the world of today? Of course, it is and it will be. Its impact is powerful. Data gathering, testing, analyses have been made easier by the computer. Computers conduct business transactions, carry out research, are very helpful in medical diagnosis or patient monitoring. But one must be careful and use it in moderate way - that is to say - not to get to be dependent on it. If not, it may complicate our life.

In conclusion I would like to say that computer changed our lives, work, world but it is sure that it brought us advantages as well as disadvantages.
