Nowadays most people are habituated to eat genetically modified foods. But many of us do not know whether these foods are safe or dangerous for our health. We should try to know something about these types of foods. First of all, we should know what genetically modified food is.

Genetically modified food (or GM food) is most commonly used to refer to plants created for human or animal consumption using the latest molecular bilogy techniques. These plants have been modified in the laboratory to enhance desired traits such as improved nutritional content.

These kind of foods certainly have great advantages:
- pest resistance,
- disease resistance,
- cold tollerance,
- it allows to eliminate famine in the world.

On the contrary, it is a risku business:
- hazardous for hyman health,
- economic concerns,
- environmental hazards,
- ethical problem - this is an act to outdo God which is strongly prohibited by each religion.

Without any doubts we can state that genetically modified foods have a potential to solve many of the world`s hunger and malnutrition problems. But there are many challenges , especially in the areas of safety testing and regulation. We still have time to think over if we should continue to practise this or stop doing it. One thing is absolutely certain: we nust be careful and our decision has to be responsible.
