?Fahrenheit 451? written by Ray Bradbury is a SF and drama novel. Book has been written in 1950?s, during the Cold War. Ray Bradbury is a novelist which is known as one of the best science fiction writer in America. ?Fahrenheit 451? takes place sometime in the future, in USA.
The novel is about non-optimistic future of books. The main character ? Guy Montag is a fireman which means, he burns books. It happens because literature is totally banned and the only entertain for people is radio and television. Everything changes in Guy?s life when he meets young Clarisse McClellan. The girl let him think of his life and he is going to change it. Guy starts to steal books and reads them. Finally his wife and boss find out the true, and they wants to catch him. Guy has to run away and at the end he gets to the place where people know books by heart. Every person knows one novel so when the world will change, the literature won?t be lost.
For the first view, the plot seems to be banal, but it changes when reader is inside the terrible world of ignorant people. This novel shows how important is to stay individual and have independent mind.
?Fahrenheit 451? is well worth reading. This book let us know what people in the middle of XX century thought about the place where Cold War may lead.
