Two weeks ago I were with my school in theatre to see ?Antygona?. It is a dream which was written by Sofokles ? ancient writer.
The story is about dilemmas and difficult choices. The main character, Antygona is arrested by the king. She is not a criminal but a sister of a brother who died. She buried his body although it was forbidden. Her sister Ismena did not help her. Antygona claims that Gods? law is more important than the king?s law. However she must pay the higher price for her attitudes ? death.
As far as cast is concerned, the actors and actresses acted convincingly. I appreciate the man who had pretend a dead body all the time. However, the costumes that they were wearing looked too modest. We did not feel they belonged to royal family.
As for music, I was a bit disappointed. I hoped that it would not be only a background filling the breaks between dialogues.
To sun up, if I had known that it was contemporary version I would not have decided to see it. I would like to admire a real Ancient play based on Greek rules.
