“The Island” is a science-fiction film with elements of thriller and action. The film is directed by Michael Bay and the main characters are played by Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson.
The story is about a special organization in which people, who are clones, are raised. Their only object is to win the lottery and fly to an island which, in fact, does not exist. In reality people who win the lottery are killed and their organs are given to their real life equivalents. The story begins when the main character-Lincoln Six-Echo who is living in this special society is starting to suspect something. He has nightmares and does not know why he remembers things that have not happened in his life. Then he realises he is a clone, and he decides to run away with beautiful Jordan Two-Delta.
The plot is fascinating and fast-moving. Everything is focused on the escape of the two clones and their pursuit. Although the film is predictable, it keeps in suspense. The weakest part of the film is acting which is simply bad. Despite lousy acting, the special effects are really excellent. The image of the world in 2019 is magnificent. Michael Bay with the help of Steven Spielberg created thousands of future machines which rivet watcher’s attention.
I thoroughly recommend “The Island”. You should not miss it because of great special and sound effects. Although the plot is based only on the escape of the clones, it gives us an important question about future, cloning people and tolerance
