The development of industry and trade gave rise to a rapid growth of Zduńska Wola. In the second half of the 18th century it functioned as a local economic centre. Thanks to the efforts of Stefan Prawdzic Złotnicki, the founder of the town, a great number of weavers from Silesia, Saxony, Prussia, and Czech started coming to Zduńska Wola. In 1824 there were about 1400 people, 150 of whom were cloth masters working in 125 workshops. At that time the first linen cloth factory was set up, the settlement was granted the town rights and municipal status in 1825, so gradually the population increased. The successful economic development of the town has continued until today. The best example can be over 4,500 trade establishments and firms ranging from small family businesses to large industrial companies operating in many and various trades.
Zduńska Wola has also unquestionable historical traditions. St. Maksymilian Maria Kolbe, the symbol of the 20th century Europe's fate, was born here. And for many years the town's multinational and multicultural (Polish, Jewish, German, Czech) traditions as well as multireligious ones have been merging together creating a unique atmosphere of outgoing hospitality and art of constructive dialogue on every sphere of life.
