Edukacja w Polsce - Studying in Poland

The education system in Poland is very complicated. The compulsory school age is from seven to sixteen. School are usually public and co-educational.
When children are seven they go to primary school and learn there six years. They learn such subject as: languages, math, music, art, science , history and physical eduaction. In six class students take their first exam, but it don't decide wich type of junior high school they will attend. Then, students go to junior high school. It lasts three years.

In this school students learn additional subjects such as chemistry, social studies, biology and geography. In last year at this school students take their final exams. It consist of two parts: humanistic and science. Students leave junior high school at the age of sixteen and they don\'t have to learn more.

But students who want to go to univeristy, go to a high school or technical school and learn there three or four years. When they want to learn, but don't want to go to univeristy, they go to vocational school for four years. Then most of them take Matura-exam wich is also an entrance exam to university.

Univeristies require positive results of matura-exam and good common of foreign languages. After three years of study, students get a Bachelor’s Degree. After five or six years students may receive a Master's Degree. Equivalent titles include the field of: education, arts, architecture, medicine, dentistry and more. The title of Master may also be obtained following the completion of two-year complementary magister-level courses.
