Four years ago Poland was chosen to co-host the European Football Championship. At the time everyone was overjoyed, but now people have mixed opinions. Many claim the tournament will bring Poland benefits, but some think it'll only cause harm.
The first thing Poland will gain is infrastructure. Many new roads, highways, hotels and airports are currently under construction and the public transport is being improved. Poland will surely get richer too. Tourism will bring money to big companies, small businesses and regular people trying to gain from the event. It's also a great chance to promote our country on the international arena, thus bring investors and more tourists. Poland got an economic boost thanks to the championship.
However, more tourists means a higher crime rate and the possibility of riots caused by football fans, racists and the inability to communicate. It'll devastate the environment too, seeing as this many people exceed it's carrying capacity. The infrastructure not done by the end of Euro will probably be left undone, because of high costs and the already abused budget. Native people will suffer because of price inflation and protesters will use this moment to make themselves heard, embarassing Poland in the process. Transportation will be impossible, there will be traffic jams and car crashes caused by drunks.
I think it's pretty obvious wheter it's good we're hosting this event. There're apparently more disadvantages and it's going to devastate our country. It's very irresponsible to subject Poland to so much danger and damage for football maniac.
