A generation gap is a popular term used to describe wide differences in cultural norms between members of a younger generation and their elders. It is some kind of inability of both the young and the old to comunicate with each others. In my opinion generation gap is a very common phenomenom nowadays.

First of all, I think that nowadays, at the turn of the century the generation gap has a great background to flourish. The XX century was a period of changes in all area of life. Our parents and grandparents, who has grown up in totally different surrounding, cannot have the same outlook on life as we. Differences in lifestyles, moral norms, outlooks, aims and dreams cause conflicts between children and their parents or grandparents.

Secondly, I believe that generation gap is inevitable because of age difference between generations. It is impossible for teenager to have the same outlook on life as middle-aged or elder person. Adults cannot understand youngish giddiness, recklessness and carelessness. Also our youthful problems appear to be insignificant for adults.. That cause disagreements commonly called the generation gap.

On the other hand, it is commonly said, that XXI century is a time of tolerance. Some people claim, that nowadays parents are more modern, their attitude towards children changes. And in my opinion it is easier to avoid conflicts with adults when our relationships with them are based on friendship like nowadays. It would be hard for me to live with my parents and, like it was common in the past, feel towards them only reserved respect. Friendly and closer relation with parents helps to avoid generation gap.

To sum up, I think that generation gap is something that has always arisen and will arise between younger and elder generations. No matter how we try, it will always appear in every humans life. But we may take this triffling conflict with a pinch of salt, to be more happy and to recall it in the future with smile.
