Everybody wants to feel that he is useful to the world around him. A retired person living on pension, hasn’t got financial independence in Poland. His pension becomes smaller and smaller. That’s why some elderly people lose their feeling when they have to depend on other people’s support such as their children. They often believe that they become a burden to other people. Orderly people’s depression can also be caused by loneliness. Both people who aren’t married or haven’t got a family may feel lonely as well. When their children become adults, they move out and the house becomes a very quiet and empty place. They feel loneliness and boredom. They are depressed and unhappy, and of course upset. Children are overworked, bury, they haven’t got time for their parents. Some elderly people have to live in old people’s home, where they easily become isolated from their family. Children and grand-children don’t understand elderly peoples’ problems and think that they’re terrible out of date. There is a generation gap, the elderly excluded from young people. Depression in their life may appear when they feel regret because they didn’t gain everything they wanted. With passage of the time life brings confidence and wisdom but some people lends to become less energetic, adaptable. They are a lot of problems connected with their health; heart or movement. They have to spend a part of their small pensions on medicine.
