A.A. Milne was born on 18(th) of January 1882. He was the youngest of three sons to Sarah and John Milne. Alan first started taking classes at his father's school. From Henley House, he went to Westminster School, then decided to attend Cambridge on a mathematics scholarship. After he had finished with his schooling, he moved to London and in 1903, he started his career as a writer. Milne's essays and poems were published in the satirical magazine Punch and St. James' Gazette. In 1906 he joined the staff of Punch.

His first book, LOVERS IN LONDON, appeared in 1905. His next books were collections of his Punch pieces. In the 1910s he became well known as a playwright, for MR. PIM PASSES BY (1919).

'Punch' editor, had introduced Alan to his god-daughter, Dorothy de Selincourt. They married in 1913, and on August 21, 1920, Christopher Robin Milne was born. In 1921 Milne bought in London’s Harrods a teddy bear for his son’s first birthday.
In 1922 Milne published a detective story, The Red House Mystery, in the Sherlock Holmes tradition.
At the age of 42 Milne published WHEN WE WERE VERY YOUNG, a collection of poetry for children. Two years later followed Winnie-the-Pooh. They feature Milne's son Christopher with various talking animals - among them the famous teddy-bear. The House at Pooh Corner (1928) continued the adventures of Pooh Bear and his friends. At the age of fifty-six he published his autobiography, IT'S TOO LATE NOW (1938).
A. A. Milne didn't write the stories and poems for children. He never read the stories and poems to his son Christopher.

In October 1952, Milne had a stroke and an operation on Milne's brain left him an invalid during the last four years of his life. He died on January 31, 1956. After his wife's death in 1971 part of the fortune earned by the Pooh books came to the Royal Literary Fund, providing for writers in financial distress.

A.A. Milne is remembered as the author of the Winnie-the-Pooh stories for children. His storries need no introduction, they have been loved by generations of children and their parents ever since they were published in 1926. All this books written with charm and imagination, have become classics.
