On 18th January in 1943, when Germans entered the ghetto to select Jews for shipment to death camp at Treblinka, he led an armed self-defense against them.
During Uprising in ghetto, Mordechai and most of the insurgents committed suicide on 8th May in 1943 in bunker at 18 Miła Street.
