Testosteron

The performance in comedies of polish actors and directors from younger generation have been more scary than funny since the last few years. It’s usually rubbish. “Testosteron” was created to break finally this run of bad luck. It lent a script from more prestigious daughter of the cinema – the theatre.

“Testosteron” on the contrary to its name isn’t meant only for men. What’s more it’s compulsory for women, who desire laughing at men and for everybody who really likes good fun.
This film doesn’t have a main character, actually there are a lot of them – a group of unhappy men. The plot is about a wedding , which…didn’t take place. When his love (a popular singer) break up with Cornel at the altar, his friend (stupid scientist Robal) is going to cheer him up. Words of consolation are really needed here, because the woman not only break up with him, but she also confesses to love somebody else. This ‘somebody else’ is among the wedding guests…and bleeding. He was beaten by Kornel’s family and friends. This is just the beginning of the party.

It’s not a coincidence that suddenly laughter outbursts. The script was originally written for the theatre. It breaks the popularity records. So it’s not weird that Andrzej Saramowicz with Tomasz Kornecki (who have shot films: “ Pół serio” and “Ciało”) wanted to do a performance in the cinemas. They made another hit.
The cinema version is different from the theatre version, it contains lots of special effects and other embellishments. All the additionals make the plot slower and tear away the spectators from the funny drama that takes place in front of them. In the film act very famous actors : Piotr Adamczyk, Krzysztof Stelmaszyk, Tomasz Kot, Borys Szyc, Maciej Stuhr, Cezary Kosiński and Tomasz Karolak act. The acting, the number of funny situations and the real “hormonal” humour compensate every disadvantage of the film.
“Testosteron” is a great Polish comedy. The texts will be in our heads for a few years. And the authors promise that they will create something about women too.
