Ja: Hi! What are you doing?
L: Oh, hello! I’m writing an e- mail to my penpal from Trinidad and Tobago.
Ja: Yeah, that’s very interesting, but I have one question: did you decide anything about your studies? Where will you go?
L: I’m thinking about psychology. What do you think about it?
Ja: Let’s see – you’re writing e-mail and going to study psychology – don’t you run for fashion? Don’t you think that it’s not fashionable?
L: Maybe. But it’s interesting for me. Many people choose the most fashionable courses – informathics, psychology, marketing and management.
But not me.
Ja: Do you think that most people get trendy courses? But don’t you think that they can be unhappy after it? Maybe they had some dreams which weren’t realized?
L: Yes, but In fashion you can find something interesting for you (obviously if you are intelligent). It’s about clothes, music, studies and other things. But I don’t like to meet people who uncritically believe in fashion. They become slaves of fashion in every field.
Ja: Yeah, look at the Japanese people – they colour their hair, make plastic surgeries for eyes, height because they want to be like Europeans. What’s happened with local culture?
L: I don’t know. Maybe fashion kill them?
Z: I think so. Everywhere you go there are McDonald’s restaurant, Adidas store or something like this. Fashion is everywhere. But I’m not going to be a slave of trends.
L: I see – you mean fashion’s slaves aren’ t intelligent and smart. If you are wise you have your own style but you can choose and find something trendy what you like.
Z: O.K. Do you agree with me that inteligent people don’t depend on fashion?
L: Yes, I would agree. But I won’t change my choice. And what will you study?
Z: I don’t know, maybeI should look for something unfashionable? Yes, I think I should …..
