Procreation has been an essential task for all people in order to continue the existence of the species. However, humans have become able to control the number of children they have. Having only one child is becoming more and more popular among young and hard-working couples. There are benefits and drawbacks connected with being the only child.
First of all having no siblings means undivided parental love and attention confused only on such a child. Furthermore, parents have only one baby to spend the money on and do not have to share it among other siblings. In addition to it, there is no person to quarrel with, nobody disturbs the child and monkey with its items.
On the other hand there are some disadvantages. The child gets used to having everything done and taken care of by its parents. When the only children have to live in the real world and face the problems, they might not be able to cope with it. What is more, such a child can be lonely and miss the fun of growing up with siblings. Single children can be spoiled and selfish in their adult life. Moreover, they can have lack of self- confidence and ability to socialize with others. Finally, being the only child you are fully responsible for the care of aging parents.
There are advantages and disadvantages to being an only child. However, how each child turns out - really depends on how it has been brought up, among other factors.
