Tourism is a recognised global industry and a key sector in the world economy as it has become a popular leisure activity in recent years. Due to the influence, which can have the considerable impact on the local development, there are many benefits and drawbacks connected with increasing and improving that kind of industry.
Firstly, tourism provides many local residents employment and training with opportunities. What is more, thanks to donations and investments the standard of living becomes higher and higher and contributes to the wealth of a country. Moreover, by spending a lot of money in local businesses tourists help to develop the infrastructure and modernise the influenced area. From a cultural point of view, culture clash gives opportunity to meet new people and their customs.
On the other hand, differences between residents and tourists can interrupt the local traditions and lifestyle. Economic losses can encourage people to activities such as prostitution, crime, migrant and child labour. In addition, tourism development can be a major source of degradation of the local ecological system. The lack of effective waste water treatment for tourists facilities, deforestation and access to beaches and coastal water destroy natural habitat of wild animals and disturb peace of areas.
