Pan Tadeusz - summery

Screening such a Masterpiece like „Pan Tadeusz” is not an easy task!!! This book was read by almost every Pole, so the director had to reckon, that the spectators would like to see their own vision!!! There were lots of opinions about the role of Priest Robak for example.

Mickiewicz’s idea was to show the Poles on emigration (for example in france)how beautiful it was at Lithuania.

It is worth to notice, that Andrew Wajda, the director of “Pan Tadeusz” chose very good actors! We can see there only the greatest ones: Daniel Olbrychski as Gewazy, Andrew Seweryn as Soplica, Grażyna Szapołowska as Telimena and Marek Kondrat as Earl.

Mister Wajda gave also the chance to the yound and not well known actors such as: Michał Żebrowki as Tateusz and Alicja Bachleda-Curuś as Zosia.

There were lots of controversies about Bogusław Linda acting the Pries Robak(as I mentiond before). He just to play in action films, and suddenly a priest… In my opinion he’s role was exellent and even the poem text wasn’t a big problem. Grazyna Szapołowska was the best Telimena, you can even imagine!!!

The picture “Pan Tadeusz” is not only the play of actors and actresses, but beautiful landscapes. The indoor of the manor and castle are really well traced by the decorators!!! During watching we look at the people’s customs and kinds of spending their free time(like hunting).

I wrote about only one from two aspects of “Pan Tadeusz”. The second one is Patriotism! Priest Robak likes going to the inn and telling the villagers stories about Napoleon Bonaparte. He and mister Soplica talk about lots of very important things connected with Targowica an Poles in France. There is even a clock in the manor which plays “Mazurek Dąbrowskiego”.

Film adaptacion would never be like the book, on which it was based. It is only the question: Would it be a good film??? I think that “Pan Tadeusz” really is a favorable movie. It says about very important thing- for Mickiewicz too- it realizes us that to achieve something we have to work together. It commemorate the view of the past, of Mickiewicz’s “small fatherland”. With all those advantages it is not destitute of humor. It is worth of seeing, laughing, delight and move.
