I love Rowling because, although she is a mature woman, she still can play with her imagination. She is multimillionaire but she still behaves like she was still not well-off crazy girl. And, most importantly ? I love Harry Potter ?s unexpected course of the events and the Rowling?s style of writing.
Joanne Rowling born on 31 July 1965, is a British author, best known as the creator of the Harry Potter fantasy series.
Aside from writing the Potter novels, Rowling is equally famous for her "rags to riches" life story, in which she progressed from living on welfare to multi-millionaire status within five years. Rowling's fortune counts at ?560 million. She has become a notable philanthropist, supporting such charities as Comic Relief, One Parent Families and the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Great Britain.
Her name when her first Harry Potter book was published was simply "Joanne Rowling". Her publisher Bloomsbury feared that young boys might not want to buy books written by a female author. That is why Rowling use two initials. As she had no middle name, she chose K. for Kathleen as the second initial of her pseudonym, from her grandmother. She sometimes uses the name Joanne Murray when conducting private matters. She calls herself "Jo".
She worked as a researcher and bilingual secretary for Amnesty International.
In 1990, while she was on a four-hour-delayed train trip from Manchester to London, the idea for a story of a young boy attending a school of wizardry "came fully formed" into her mind. When she had reached her flat, she began to write immediately. In December this year, 1990 her mother died, this death heavily affected her writing. Thanks to book she could escape in her character?s life.
2 years later Rowling moved to Portugal to teach English as a foreign language. She married television journalist and they than had one daughter ? Jessica. They separated one year later. Rowling and her daughter moved to Scotland. Unemployed and living on state benefits was diagnosed with clinical depression, and contemplated suicide.
In 1995, Rowling finished her manuscript for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone on an old manual typewriter. What is interesting, the book was submitted to twelve publishing houses, all of which rejected the manuscript. A year later she was finally given the green light by Bloomsbury. Although Bloomsbury agreed to publish the book, Cunningham advised Rowling to get a day job, since she had little chance of making money with writing. Harry Potter is now a global brand worth an estimated ?8 billion and the last four Harry Potter books have consecutively set records as the fastest-selling books in history.
Rowling is the first person to become a U.S.-dollar billionaire by writing books, the second-richest female entertainer and the 1062nd richest person in the world.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 1996, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 1997, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 2000, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix 2003, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince 2005, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 2006.
