''Pride and Prejudice'' was directed by Joe Wright. Its main stars are Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen. The film is based on the book of the same title which was written by Jane Austen.
The story is set in an English province at the turn of the 18. and 19. century. It was filmed on location in Lincolnshire, Peak District and Derbyshire.
It is about five Bennet sisters who have been raised by their mother with one purpose in life - finding a husband. But one of them, Elizabeth, has lots of reasons not to marry. It is not easy to find a proper and rich husband in the province. However, a spark of hope has appeared, because some young, handsome, rich man and his friend are to take up summer residence nearby. Mr Charles Bingley falls in love with the eldest of five sisters, Jane. The second, Elizabeth, meets the handsome and snobbish Mr Darcy. We find out at the end if she finally finds a reason to marry.
