Franklin Delano Roosevelt - czy mogłabym się z nim zaprzyjaźnić?

Franklin D. Roosevelt is an important person in the history of the USA and world. He was a 32nd president of USA. His decicions had a strong influence on events of The World War II.
He studied law but he was interested in politics. Following the example of his cousin, Theodore Roosevelt, whom he greatly admired, Franklin D. Roosevelt entered politics as a democrat. He was elected president in 1932 to the first of four terms and he started to improve hard society’s sitation. The biggest problem was unemployment.
During the War, he helped Allies. He created a big army to fight against nazism. After the War he played a critical role in shaping the post-war world.

It is a short biography of the man who I admire for his political decisions and character. I think I could make friends with Franklin Roosevelt. Why?

Firstly, he wanted to help people who elected him president. He created a new program (“New Deal”) to bring recovery of bad situation in country. I think helping people is very important. It is hard to find a person who helps without profits today. I admire the approach he took to people.

Secondly, Roosevelt showed that it is possible to be a wise politician. He aimed to peace during the War. In 1941 Congress passed his Lend-lease Act. US lent Allies lots of military equipment. He was one of the authors of Atlantic Card, an act which said about aims of the US and the UK’s policy. In my opinion, Roosevelt was a great politician - democrat and we could find many topics to discuss.

Of course, he was also a man. When he got ill (paralysis from the waist down) in 1921, he did not give up. He worked hard to be able to use his legs. He loved his family. He had an affair but, as I said, he was just a man. I can understand this. I am not perfect, too.

I am sure we could pal around. I am very similar to F. Roosevelt. There are a lot of things which connect us: interests, character, ideas, intelligence. I just cannot forget that he took part in Yalta conference. He, Churchill, Stalin arranged a new reality. Poland became part of Soviet Union. Probably he did not know what it would mean. But friends should be different, shouldn’t they? It is not boring then. :)
