School does prepare you for life.

Some may not agree, but I think that school prepares us for life in terms of interactions

with other people, forming good habits and usage of knowledge in everyday life. I can clearly

remember my primary school history teacher who kept on repeating us that primary purpose

of a teacher was: “to teach young people think”. I was deeply impressed by that simple

statement. I can still vividly remember his lessons that stimulated our thinking skills by

participation in interactive discussions. I must admit that I learned much more that just Polish

history from him.

First of all, school has a great influence on forming students` characters. Young people

are very flexible and that is why school years is the best period to strike root in proper habits

and to teach teenagers good manners. Moreover, students learn how to cooperate with one

another and during their classes they are encouraged to improve interactions between them.

In addition, school is a great place to make new friends. It is always good to have companions

with whom you have something in common.

Secondly, by attending classes pupils learn responsibility. Being a student means

having some rights and duties as well. Thanks to the school they are aware of the fact that a

negligence of obligation means punishment. Furthermore, as the classes start at particular

hours students know they can’t be late and that is how they learn punctuality.

All in all, I believe that most of the teachers have not only the knowledge which they

absorbingly pass, but they also share their experience with students. I’m strongly convinced

that receiving education is not just for aesthetic purposes. Learning is very important for the

sake of understanding the world we live in so that we are able to cope with every day problems, to

obviate the obstacles and to be successful.

Summing up, I think that stereotype of the school as a place of compulsory

attendance, where bare knowledge is introduced, should be changed. Not only do learn there

how to coexist within the society but also derive a real life knowledge and create our personality.
