Everybody loves Father Christmas,but especially children,who get presents from him every year. Father Christmas leaves the gifts either under the Christmas Tree,or in a stocking,
as happens in the US. One thing never changes though: he always comes at night, so nobody can see him. The image of Father Christmas comes from the legend of Saint Nicholas, who was probably a bishop in 4th century Asia. The legend tells how Saint Nicholas helped a poor nobleman by giving three bags of gold to his three daughters. He did not want anybody to
know his name and this is why even today Father Christmas delivers presents in secret. Father Christmas lives in Lapland,Finland, which lies within the Arctic Circle.
His house is hidden in a pine forest and is covered with snow all year round. Father Christmas works very hard in older to prepare gifts for everyone for Christmas. He always travels by sleigh, drawn by eight reindeer.
