Studying via Internet, popularly called e-learning, is a new method of gaining knowledge. Many people are delighted by this new form od learning but they forget it's downsides. Let's have a closer look at the subject.
E-learning saves the student time and stress since you can choose you learning hours and the place where you feel the most comfortable. You just need a computer and internet access. This method makes learning available to a larger group of people, e.g., working people, mothers or people suffering agoraphobia. Such studying is also cheaper since it rules out the costs of accomodation and journey to the university. You also can moderate your own learning pace without needing to keep up with the rest of the class.
However, it also has many downsides, like problems with working in groups. It's hard to get together at the same time on the Internet. And you are deprived of direct contact with the lecturer and the rest of the universitys society, which may make you feel left out and less motivated to learn efficiently. Also not all courses are accessible through this method, e.g., medicine. And while overall being cheaper, e-learning requires good computer equipment and knowing how to use it properly.
All in all, I think studying via the Internet is a good thing for people who have no other option. In my opinion normal college learning is better and you shouldn't use e-learning unless you absolutely have to.
